Part 135 SMS Compliance, Done Right — Before the May 28, 2027 Deadline

The FAA now requires every Part 135 operator to run a Safety Management System. eSMS gives you the software, and our partner ACCG gives you the manual. Together, you're ready to declare compliance.

Plans start at $45 a monthWorks with myFLIGHTDATABuilt around Part 5

The rule

The Clock Is Running

In April 2024, the FAA expanded 14 CFR Part 5 to cover Part 135 charter and commuter operators and §91.147 air tour operators. If you held your certificate before May 28, 2024, you must have a working SMS in place and file a declaration of compliance by May 28, 2027.

Fleet size doesn't matter. A one-aircraft operator is covered the same as a thirty-aircraft fleet. And there is no FAA approval step to lean on: inspectors will check that your SMS actually works during routine surveillance.

A Manual on a Shelf Isn't an SMS

Many operators think SMS means writing a manual. The manual is only the start. The FAA expects to see the system running: hazards reported, risks assessed, fixes tracked, and records kept. For a small operator, doing that on paper or in spreadsheets quickly falls apart.

One Solution, Two Parts

Software

eSMS software (part135sms.com)

Pilots and staff report hazards from any device. Your safety officer assesses risk on an interactive 5×5 matrix, assigns corrective actions with owners and due dates, and closes the loop. Every step is recorded and ready for an FAA inspector. Plans start at $45 a month.

Made for the Way Part 135 Really Works

Flight data fills itself in.

eSMS connects with myFLIGHTDATA, so departure, destination, tail number and crew autofill on every report.

Simple for pilots.

A three-step hazard report takes a few minutes, not a stack of forms.

Organized around Part 5.

Your dashboard follows the four SMS components the FAA looks for: Safety Policy, Safety Risk Management, Safety Assurance and Safety Promotion.

Inspector-ready records.

Reports, risk assessments, audits and training records are kept for the periods Part 5 requires.
